I’ve recently read Marriage: The Mystery of Faithful Love. Also his wife’s book The Privilege of Being a Woman, which I loved! I’d really like to read more from both of them — anything you’d recommend?
I was something of a Dietrich stan even before starting at the Hildebrand Project, so maybe I'm not an unbiased source!
His book of anti-Nazi memoirs—My Battle Against Hitler—was really influential on me. I think a great place to start with his philosophy is The Art of Living, which is a very practical ethics text, and it touches on some of the themes that were central in his work. And there are two chapters by Alice in there as well, so well worth the time.
I'd be happy to send you a copy of any of his books, if you have a PO box you're willing to share. You can DM me here, or email me at jantoniello(at)hildebrandproject(dot)org.
Keep up the great work and I hope to hear from you soon.
I was just thinking about you and wondering what beautiful things you were up to! And as usual your meditations ended up parallel with my experiences and helped give me words to understand what I’m feeling.
Lately I’ve been struggling with going on teaching—it’s getting harder every year. (Begging that more parents consider the effects of cell phones on kids!) I selfishly wanted to do something else because it felt like I wasn’t getting anything out of this career… but I realized last month this job is the cross Christ gave me—my invitation to the race. It’s a job that keeps me praying, keeps me grateful, and teaches me to love, and so much more. It’s a suffering I know has value not only in my spiritual life, but also for the kids I work with. Now I can add that language of being proud on my deathbed at the end of each day, haha!
Ever since converting, I’ve been trying different devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary—I love the Rosary and the traditional Little Office. One day I stumbled across Fr. Emil Neubert’s book Mary and the Christian Educator. I’m hoping to read it little by little this school year. What better devotion than to be an educator in imitation of the motherly educator of the Incarnate Infant Jesus? What a book to find in a moment of crisis. lol
Congrats on the newborn, and thanks for your words—happy to hear from you again. Praying God grant you fortification in strength, heart, and spirit each day!
Aahh it’s so good to hear from you! My life is more peaceful without social media but I do think about the people I connected with on Instagram and wonder sometimes what they’re up to!
I love what you said about teaching and love that you’re sticking with it❤️We need good teachers and your students are lucky to have you! I’m definitely going to look up the book you mentioned!
Thank you. I always liked your Instagram posts on the tarot and it’s nice to know how you’re doing.
What are you reading by Hildebrand? I work for the Hildebrand Project, and came across your writing in the course of my work.
I read Meditations on the Tarot some years ago, and I am very interested in getting your book. Anyway, best wishes!

Last two paragraphs are legit.
